after two decades of gaslighting from multiple directions and avenues and in the middle of trying to learn how to trust not just anyone but to trust my own self when that was the most dangerous thing that whole time, and thus trying to re-learn a large chunk of human history, basic facts about society and the government, and assumed facts about the universe itself, I gotta say, it’s unbelievably hard to find a solid answer to “was I actually in a cult or not” when the term “cult” itself is, unfortunately, not actually a definite word and has no standard definition even among experts and no one has an answer for how to fix that, so it’s halfway a judgement call and I’m like are you kidding me this is the kind of twistability I’m trying to run away from and you’re telling me I gotta run the risk of making the same twisting-a-term-to-fit-what-i-want-reality-to-be that has made me not able to trust anything i’ve been told till now like can we please either define the term soon or create a term between “group” and “cult” that is serious like “cult” but not quite the level of things like jonestown and nvxim and stuff like for the love of everything how does this help anyone
